Crazy Faith, Faithful God
“For we live by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.” (Hebrews 11:1)
By faith, Joshua took the land 450 years after God promised Abraham (in Shechem) that He would give his family the land he was standing on.
The story: Joshua 1-3
Joshua had been the first under Moses’ leadership to say, “let’s go!”
A new generation, now under Joshua’s leadership, was ready.
God progressively reveals His plan to Joshua.
Three times God said, “Be strong and courageous.”
By faith, he did what God said to do.
Everyone followed Joshua’s example of faith!
Then God revealed the plan–“when they step into the water.”
But they all did it, because God said so and Joshua went first!
It was the faith of Joshua and those that followed him that brought about the promised blessings from God.
Conclusion: It’s crazy faith that we’re called to, but we have a faithful God!
