Sermon: Secure in the Truth?

Romans 5

Last week:  Justification through faith means we provide the container (faith) for His grace that saves us. Even Abraham and David had faith in the promised Redeemer!

Chapter 5:1-11 (NLT): Tough times create a tough bond

Grace= “Undeserved Privilege” (are we complicating this?)

Theme: Peace, Hope and Joy

    -  Peace

    -  Hope (elpis)

    -  Joy (rejoice in suffering)

Suffering-Securely in grace VS suffering insecurely

    -  Suffering-Secure

    -  Suffering insecurely

5:12-21: Adam and Jesus

“Sin” (aorist tense): “The aorist always points to a single past action. So by using the aorist here, Paul is saying that the whole race sinned in one single past action.” –Tim Keller

5:20: Sin doesn’t rule, GRACE DOES!

Conclusion: Are life’s struggles driving you from God or toward Him?
