Our Mission: Our desire at Crossroads Community Church “to be a refuge of God’s unconditional love” is also the goal in the nursery. Our aim is that each child will experience God’s unconditional love through our caregivers.
- Nursery Parent Co-op
What is Parent Co-op? Nursery care is a vital ministry at Crossroads Community Church. Our desire is to provide you and your child with top quality care. In order to accomplish this goal we need your participation. Our parent co-op approach consists of loving parents like you who desire the best for their children to take turns volunteering in the nursery.
How does Parent Co-op work? Parents who have children who receive care from the nursery (and have attended Crossroads for three months), are expected to sign up to volunteer once every six weeks during one of the service times to help keep the nursery running smoothly. - Staffing Requirements
The nursery room is staffed with volunteers who have passed a background check. These volunteers serve on a rotating basis. To insure safety and optimal care we strive to maintain a ratio of 1 caregiver for every 3 infants, and 1 caregiver for every 6 toddlers. If we have reached our capacity or our caregiver-to-child ratio is exceeded, you will be asked to join us (if you are not on the regular rotation schedule.) - Health Standards
Keeping children healthy is a team effort between our parents and nursery caregivers. In order to provide a safe, healthy nursery for all our nursery children, we ask that you keep your baby or toddler at home any time he or she exhibits the following symptoms:
- Fever within the previous twenty-four hours.
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the previous twenty-four hours.
- Any symptom of childhood diseases such as scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, chicken pox, or whooping cough.
- Runny nose with any colored discharge.
- Contagious skin rash.
- Pink eye and other eye infections, and head lice (child should be free of all nits).
- Registration
Starting Sunday April 11, 2010 we will begin using Kid Check to register your child with us each week. When you sign your child into the nursery each week you will receive an identification sticker that is needed to pick your child up at the end of the service. It is designed to ensure the safety of your child. - If your child is crying and we are unable to calm him or her down within 10-15 minutes, we will contact your cell phone (via text) or offer you a pager if you would prefer.
- Diaper Change Policy
In order to better serve the safety of our children, families, and our workers we do not change diapers in our Crossroads Nursery. We do not wish this to be an inconvenience, but rather, a demonstration of our desire to continue to better serve you and your precious babies. Please feel free to come and change them before dropping them off and should they need you before you return, we will page you. - Emergencies
You will be contacted immediately if your child has been noticeably or significantly injured (e.g. a bump or bruise forms or the skin is broken).
